Alone in the Dark Gets Inferno
Playstation 3 | October 10, 2008 9:37 am

Atari has just announced recently of its plans based on feedback from fans for a new "expansion" to Alone in the Dark for the Playstation 3 version of the title. New gameplay elements and possibly new story element will give Alone in the Dark: Inferno a new look on the Playstation 3.

Alone in the Dark: Inferno stays true to the storyline of the previous versions in which gamers take on the role of paranormal investigator Edward Carnby and over the course of one apocalyptic night must fight to survive and uncover the earth-shattering secret behind New York's Central Park. However, the new edition will fully complement the intense storytelling and unprecedented environmental interactions with an array of improved gameplay elements that will give gamers the ultimate Alone in the Dark experience.

Gameplay elements including camera, inventory system, and hero control have all been reworked for maximum immersion and fun. In addition, Alone in the Dark: Inferno will include an all-new action sequence revealing a previously unseen enemy of epic proportions.

Check info on the gameplay elements from the press release below...

It seems like Atari still doesn't want gamers to forget anything about Alone in the Dark, one if its title purposed to help save the publisher that is looking for something to bring it out on top.

LittleBigPlanet Finally Getting Beta
Playstation 3 | September 4, 2008 6:49 am

We've been hearing about it for months now and Gamasutra has finally given us word that there will be a beta test for LittleBigPlanet. However, this will be a limited public beta which means that sign ups will go fast if you're not on top of it. With the games release coming in October, its expected that the beta test will launch sometime this month.

"In terms of LittleBigPlanet, the game itself is all but complete," says an SCEA rep on the official U.S. PlayStation boards, "however, we're looking to run a test of the sharing, uploading, downloading and multiplayer server side of the game before it launches to ensure that under a large number of users it does everything it is supposed to."

PS3 Mic Priced and Dated for Fall
Playstation 3 | September 3, 2008 7:33 pm

We've been hearing a lot about it lately, but SCEA has offfcialy confirmed the price and release date for its official Playstation 3 wireless headset.

  • The headset will feature “High-Quality (HQ) mode” with PS3. In this mode, the headset will take advantage of advanced voice technologies and noise cancellation techniques to provide clear and wideband voice input to the PS3. The HQ mode will ensure a much better voice chat quality on the PS3.

  • HQ mode will also enable accurate speech recognition required to support or enhance ‘Voice Command’ and ‘Voice Animation’ features. Voice Command was originally used in SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs for PS2 to administer the AI-controlled teammates using the WHO, WHAT, and WHERE format (example: Bravo, Attack, Nav Point Zulu). Voice Animation refers to the in-game character mimicking you during voice chat. With HQ mode, these features can be enabled on a much larger vocabulary in select PS3 games.

  • PS3 will display an in-game status indicator exclusively for this headset that will show the headset’s connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume level and microphone mute status.

  • Tired of wearing the headset during a long multiplayer gaming session or is your headset battery running out of charge? Just dock the headset in the supplied charging cradle, and the headset will work as a desktop microphone while charging.

  • Last but not least, the headset will automatically pair with the PS3 by connecting with a USB cable.

The headset will cost you $49.99 MSRP as a standalone but will also be available in the $60 SOCOM: Confrontation bundle.
